Clarithromycin Tablets

Description: Clarimon is available in Tablet form

Indications: Lower Respiratory Tract Infection

                      Upper Respiratory Tract Infection

                      Skin and structure infection

                      Acute Otitis Media

  1. pylori Infection

Dosage: 

  1. For Bacterial infection – Adult : 250 to 500mg every 12 hours for 1 to 14 days
  2. For Community Acquired pneumonia – Adults – 250mg 12 hours for 7 to 14 days
  3. For Prevention of Mycobacterium avium complex infection – Adults – 500mg two times a day
  4. For Treatment of H.Pylori – 500mg every 8 hours for 14 days in combination with omeprazole 

                                                  500mg every 12 hours in combination with amoxicillin and lansoprazole for 10 to 14 days

                                                  500mg every 12 hours in combination with amoxicillin and omeprazole for 10 days

  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Pharyngitis
  • Sinusitis
  • Cellulitis
  • Erysipelas
  • Acute otitis media
  • H. Pylori Infection

Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clarithromycin, or any other macrolide

Special Precautions: Breast Feeding and geriatric

Adverse Drug Reaction: Stomach pain, diarrhea, confusion, spinning sensation

Drug Interaction: 

  1. Many Drug with Clarithromycin may affect the heart rhythm – Amiodarone, Disopyramide, Dofetilide

Mechanism of Action: Clarithromycin is a macrolide group of antibiotic acts by inhibiting protein synthesis by binding to the bacterial 50s ribosomal subunit which inhibits peptidyl transferase activity and interfer with aminoacid translocation
